Recruitment of a diverse emergency medicine residency program: Creating and maintaining a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion

This article describes an iterative process for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Emory University over two decades of deliberate innovation, implementation, and reflection. This evolution has been grounded in best practices for recruiting a diverse workforce.  This strategic recruitment process has been used to build and maintain a diverse, inclusive residency program, reflecting both a deliberate approach to application review and rank list formulation and the longitudinal development of URiM medical students.
