Background
The post supports the delivery of specialist cardiorespiratory teaching within the Physiotherapy qualifying programmes.
Summary of Role
The post holder will work under the direction of their line manager, in collaboration the Programme Leads of the BSc and MSc Physiotherapy programmes
•Teaching within own subject area within an established teaching programme (under the supervision from an academic member of staff)
•Contribute to generating funding and may: a) contribute to enhancement of the student experience or employability; b) contribute to designing CPD programmes for clients external to the University and similar; c) contribute to deliver CPD programmes, consulting on own specialism and the like, often under the supervision of a project leader.
•Contribute to licensing or spin out deals with demonstrated commercial success (such as revenues, asset or company sales, IP generated) and/or public understanding of the discipline or similar.
Main Duties
1. To lead the cardiorespiratory module on the BSc Physiotherapy, with support from the Programme Lead
2. To deliver specialist cardiorespiratory teaching to students on the BSc and MSc Physiotherapy programmes
3. To offer some teaching on other modules, dependent on expertise, within appropriate workload allocation
4. To participate in student assessment, to include practical and written elements
5. To support the personal tutorial system through offering academic and pastoral supervision to students
6. To support the Admissions process to Physiotherapy qualifying programmes
7. To undertake other duties supporting the efficient running of the Physiotherapy qualifying programmes
8. To contribute to the clinical team in undertaking clinical visiting of students whilst on placement.
Person Specification
1.Qualified physiotherapist holding current HCPC registration
2. Appropriate level of experience in health care delivery
3. Degree relevant to professional role
4. Experience of teaching physiotherapy in the academic or practice setting
5. Evidence of multidisciplinary teaching
6. Experience of using research in practice
7. A commitment to quality enhancement in practice
8. A commitment to teamwork, excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication
9. Demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines
10. Sensitivity to the concerns, needs and views of other personnel
11. Evidence of implementing new initiatives in health care
