Job Details
Would you like to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to address clinically-driven challenges?
Do you want to develop your experimental research skills?
In the UK, one third of people aged over 45 have sought treatment for osteoarthritis. The knee is the most common site for osteoarthritis and there is a major unmet clinical need for effective earlier stage interventions that delay or prevent the requirement for total knee replacement surgery. Once these interventions have been developed they require testing to determine functional performance.
Specifically such experimental testing will include undertaking knee simulator testing of natural (animal and/or human) knees and associated analysis to assess contact mechanics, wear and biomechanics of early stage treatments under a range of conditions. You will provide specialist support for this laboratory work.
You will possess demonstrable experience of working in a technical capacity within a science, technology or engineering discipline and it is essential that you hold a BSc or BEng or MSc or MEng. You will have a proactive approach to working in a multidisciplinary team with engineering, industry and clinical colleagues.
