Job Description
The VHST Instructional faculty shall have the primary responsibility of teaching, research/creative achievement and service fuctions and shall be held accountable for these obligations as they contribute to the attainment of the mission of the University, the School, and the Department. Teaching responsibilities will be divided between the Veterinary Medical Technology Program and the Veterinary Health Science Program. This position may also include assisting with the care and treatment of all animals required for research and teaching housed within the VHST facilities.

Required Qualifications
DVM, VMD, BVMS, or equivalent degree from an AVMA-COE accredited university, LVT, RVT, CVT or equivalent degree from an AVMA-CVTEA accredited university plus completion of a graduate or professional degree within a veterinary related field of study, or graduate degree (PhD preferred) in animal science or related field; *current Tennessee state veterinary or veterinary technician licensure; *in good professional standing and a minimum of three years clinical experience in various settings; *educational preparation in accordance with requirements of the University and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and *evidence of potential for effective teaching and scholarly activity

support and promote the university s SEWS program within the curriculum

assist the department chair with necessary department, school or university reports/schedules as requested

demonstrate current knowledge of content and assist the department chair with curricular revisions and changes requested
Job Duty
appropriately align course syllabi goals and objectives to academic major program goals and student outcomes for each course taught
Job Duty
develop a current syllabus for each assigned class and distribute a course syllabus to each student
Job Duty
submit a current copy of each syllabus to the department chair by predetermined deadline
Job Duty
evaluate enrolled students and submit grades to the Registrar by a predetermined deadline
Job Duty
requisition instructional materials and supplies through the department chair
Job Duty
assure completion of the student course evaluation instrument for the semester as requested
Job Duty
participate in the faculty evaluation process and use the results to improve teaching and strengthen the major
Job Duty
establish and maintain the resources of the academic department, the school, and the University
Job Duty
submit to the department chair his/her semester schedule that indicates weekly teaching assignment, office/conference hours and involvment in the university, school and department councils or committees

effectivelyadvise assigned students in an individualized educational plan for their program of study and maintain an accurate and current academic file for each advisee
Job Duty
explore career goals with each assigned advisee
Job Duty
mentor majors through the research process
Job Duty
fulfill the university s scholarship expectations through research, publication, grant development, and creative achievement
Job Duty
participate in events that support the institution, the faculty, staff and students

participate in commencement exercises

participate in community and public service opportunities

attend department, school, convocation, and univsersity faculty meetings

complete required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University

maintain records and evaluations of the students for the activities during the clinical experiences
