Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor - Adelaide Rural Clinic

(Level C) $119,070 to $136,990 (pro rata) per annum or (Level D) $142,958 to $157,289 (pro rata) per annum plus an employer contribution of 9.5% superannuation will apply

0.2 FTE fixed term contract available until the 31st December 2020 with the potential for extension

The Adelaide Rural Clinical School (ARCS) Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor is based in Port Lincoln, South Australia. The position will work on expanding research activity in the Port Lincoln community and regional South Australia, particularly in the areas of rural and/or Aboriginal health. The ideal candidate will seek collaborative research projects in rural and/or Aboriginal health within Australia, and develop research support and teaching activities. The role will also contribute to the broader agenda of recruiting, preparing and mentoring the next generation of rural health professionals, including, but not limited to, medical students and junior doctors based in the region.

The ARCS Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor will have a commitment to working with Aboriginal staff, students and health professionals to close the gap in health and educational outcomes.

To be successful you will need:

Level C:

• A health professional qualification and registration with AHPRA or equivalent professional body and a doctorate or PhD with significant research experience in rural settings.
• Experience in working in respectful partnerships with Aboriginal people.
• Demonstrated experience working professionally in a remote or rural setting.
• Demonstrated experience in medical education or equivalent experience in rural practice teaching.
• Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative research programs within and outside the community.

In addition to the above, to be successful at Level D, you will also need:

• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent, high-quality research with significant contributions to the discipline of remote and rural health and/or Aboriginal health.
• Extensive track record of high-quality publications and conference papers relative to the opportunity and demonstrated experience in contributing to leadership of major research projects and research teams.
• Experience in the supervision of student research projects such as honours and/or higher degree research projects.
• Demonstrated ability forging meaningful external relationships, building partnerships with community, government and other academic institutions and partners locally, nationally and internationally.
• Experience in the development of research material for teaching within the research area.
