The University of Southampton is home to the NIHR ARC Wessex, a new 5 year funded programme of research, starting on the 1st October. The NIHR ARC provides high-quality, implementation-based research to support decision makers in health and healthcare. The NIHR ARC exists to improve the health of the people of Wessex and the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care.

A vacancy has arisen for a Programme Support Officer, following promotion of the current post holder. You will join a small, enthusiastic and cohesive team working flexibly to add maximum value to the management of health and social care research.

You will work closely with clinicians and health scientists to ensure the smooth delivery of our business. Working together with the rest of the team you will provide support to the work of the NIHR ARC. An important part of the role will be building and maintaining good relationships with key individuals within the health research community. You will also carry out work across the organisation as necessary.

You will be proactive, flexible and highly computer literate. You should have strong administrative and proven organisational skills and an interest in supporting the development of health research in the UK. You will need to be able to work well as part of a team, which is committed to adding maximum value to the management of health and implementation research. You will be able to provide support to our growing cohort of Patient and Public contributors.
