RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible to:
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Asset and Stock Manager within the division of Residence Logistics;
  • Assist with annual asset verification in the Residences;
  • Perform inventory control of assets and stock in the Residence Facilities warehouse;
  • Assume responsibilities of Manager in his absence.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Grade 12 with 3 years relevant experience;
  • Management of assets and/or store stock;
  • Supervision and management of staff;
  • Proficient in computerised asset and stock control systems;
  • Valid driver's licence.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
  • Computer skills;
  • Communication skills;
  • Skills required to care for furniture;
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations;
  • Knowledge of specialised tools/equipment;
  • Knowledge of handling household cleaning chemicals;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments;
  • Follow instructions and apply correctly;
  • Physical fitness and mobility are essential;
  • Self-motivated.


ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
  • 3 Year diploma in office administration;
  • 5 Years prior experience as part of an asset management team in housing or higher education and learning;
  • Public driver's licence.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
