The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking applications for the position of Director of Cytopathology at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, Assistant/Associate/Professor rank depending on qualifications, (nontenure), one of the four academic affiliates of the University of Pittsburgh. It is our centerpiece women's care facility where all breast, gynecologic, perinatal specimens and gynecologic cytology is received and processed for diagnostic purposes. The division contains 12 faculty members with different areas of subspecialty interest. Clinical research focuses on immunohistochemistry, gynecologic cytology, image analysis, and molecular approaches to gynecologic and breast malignancies. There are opportunities to support basic research at Magee-Womens Research Institute through the development of peer-reviewed funded research programs and collaborative opportunities with faculty engaged in molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, etc. The Director of Cytopathology will be a full time faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh as well as a participant in the UPMC/UPP faculty practice plan. He/she should be a mid-career academic with a desire to transition to a leadership role and be responsible for directing, mentoring, and growing a dynamic group of clinical and investigative pathologists. Teaching opportunities are also available with medical students in the School of Medicine, cytopathology fellows, gynecologic and breast pathology fellows, and pathology residents.
