You will join the UK National Crystallography Service (NCS, http://www.ncs.ac.uk ), based at the University of Southampton, The NCS is an EPSRC-funded National Research Facility and its purpose is to provide access to crystallographic instrumentation and expertise that goes beyond what is available at any single institution.

You will perform structural analysis on some of the most challenging samples that the UK chemical synthesis community generates. Furthermore, NCS Research Scientists independently lead and conduct small research projects in advanced crystallographic techniques. . Much of this work will take place at Diamond Light Source, Oxfordshire and you will lead the NCS interaction with this facility.

In addition to having a PhD or professional qualifications and experience in Chemical Crystallography you will need considerable experience in crystallography. Evidencing the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to address complex crystallographic problems and communicate the results in a timely manner will be key to a successful application. A good publication track record would be an advantage, as would the ability to demonstrate experience in training others to perform chemical crystallography analysis.

Ideally you be available to take up the post from 1st November 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be available for 2 years in the first instance, with the possibility of extension depending on continued funding of the NCS.

Upon appointment you will be known as a Research Fellow.
