Work in PODS and use Systemic Practice

A Local Authority based in the London region is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Looked After Children team.

Highlights:

  • Local Authority uses the Hackney Model so teams are arranged in PODS
  • Weekly supervision meetings to discuss cases as a team
  • The team also has incorporated other disciplines so that you have expert advice on hand such as Mental Health practitioner
  • Learn to use Systemic Practice, will also be given training around this
  • Work with service users between the age of 0-25
  • Gain exposure to cases which have CSE, Gangs and Missing Children components
  • Will have the full support of the Managers, who are always available to provide supervision and support.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with an innovative Local Authority which is able to adapt its services to provide a much more holistic package of care. An example of this would be the further development of the Hackney model, the team has incorporated specialist Mental Health Practitioners within this team to provide you with expert knowledge and to provide intervention where necessary. Another development within the Local Authority is the sharing of information between services; you will have access to information which is held by other service without having to fill out cumbersome forms.

The team work with Children who are looked after by the Local Authority and are aged between 0-25. For the older individuals they will be allocated a Leaving Care adviser who will be able to support the transition to independent living or Adults services.

You will receive regular training and the team meet weekly to discuss cases which may have a complex nature and to also share ideas. This ensures that you will receive advice from a range of practitioner with a varying background providing you with information to ensure the child has the best possible outcome. In regards to courses you will also have access to courses which will be funded by the authority and to support your learning you will have up to 5 days per year as study leave.
