Applications are invited a six month full-time Research Associate position on the above research project which is being led by Professor Peter Sunley, in the Department of Geography and Environment, University of Southampton. The post will be based in Southampton and will work closely with the other investigators: Professor Richard Harris (Business, Durham), Professor Ron Martin (Geography, Cambridge), Professor Andy Pike (CURDS, Newcastle). The aim of the project is to investigate the condition, and potential, of advanced manufacturing industries and clusters in the industrial regions of the UK. The project will aim to contribute to public debates about place-based industrial strategy and the future role of industrial policy in spatial rebalancing.

The post will start on 3 December 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

You will join the Economy, Culture, Governance research group (see http://www.southampton.ac.uk/geography/research/groups/economy_society.page ). The group has a leading international reputation in human geography and strong interdisciplinary links in the Faculty of Social, Human and Mathematical Sciences.

Applications will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon completion of PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
