The Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine Service Line at the Aga Khan University Hospital provides a broad spectrum of diagnostic and treatment options to patients suffering from bone, joint, ligament, tendon, muscle and nerve diseases and injuries that cause pain and affect mobility. The Service Line consists of a team of highly qualified and experienced doctors, surgeons and nurses, specialized in orthopaedics, rheumatology and sport medicine. The services that are offered by our team of experts include but are not limited to, broken bones, fractures, sport injuries, knee replacement, hip replacement, rheumatic diseases and muscular skeletal diseases.

Aga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Service Line Chief, Musculoskeletal & Sports Medicine. Applications are invited only from potentially qualified internal candidates.

Responsibilities

You will be accountable for an overall clinical leadership of the Service Line, which includes ensuring delivery of effective, efficient, timely, high quality services in line with accreditation and regulatory requirements, support in developing the strategic plans and implementing service line goals & plans to ensure that the goals and objectives are accomplished. You will provide leadership for the implementation of changes required to operate effectively in an agile environment and will be accountable for the delivery of quality of services.

As Service Line Chief, you will report directly to the CEO, AKUH. In addition you will report to the relevant Departmental Chair for academic and program related functions and as a member of the Faculty.

You will work in a complex environment of delivering services, research and teaching. Besides, you are expected to be aware of the responsibilities of working in the context of the governance policies of the Institution.

Requirements

You should have:
  • MBBS / MD degree or equivalent with suitable post-graduate qualifications with extensive leadership, managerial and clinical experience in a teaching hospital
  • at least 5 to 7 years of experience as Clinician with demonstrated leadership success in a medical practice setting would be preferred
  • ability to identify and manage critical issues and priorities
  • strong analytical and critical reasoning skills
  • high level of managerial competency for establishing and applying robust performance management systems and accountability frameworks
  • excellent leadership and influencing skills and demonstrable professional credibility
  • strong commercial and business insight, understanding the impact of operational efficiencies on overall patient care and performance targets
  • evidence of setting ambitious attainable targets and of leading and implementing innovative solutions, and complex change and modernization programmes designed to improve quality and services within financial constraints
  • experience of working and contributing at a senior level with a proven track record of producing high quality results in the management and leadership of operations.
