The Internal Medicine Service Line at The Aga Khan University Hospital is comprised of highly trained and experienced Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease and Endocrinology specialists. The medical team is equipped to perform advanced diagnostics and treatment for a wide range of diseases and conditions.

The Aga Khan University Hospital has multiple specialties all under one roof. This enables our doctors in the Internal Medicine service line to work closely with doctors from other service lines in the hospital and ensure our patients receive a holistic approach to their health treatment plan.

Aga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Service Line Chief, Internal Medicine. Applications are invited only from potentially qualified internal candidates.

Responsibilities

You will be accountable for an overall clinical leadership of the Service Line, which includes ensuring delivery of effective, efficient, timely, high quality services in line with accreditation and regulatory requirements, support in developing the strategic plans and implementing service line goals & plans to ensure that the goals and objectives are accomplished. You will provide leadership for the implementation of changes required to operate effectively in an agile environment and will be accountable for the delivery of quality of services.

As Service Line Chief, you will report directly to the CEO, AKUH. In addition you will report to the relevant Departmental Chair for academic and program related functions and as a member of the Faculty.

You will work in a complex environment of delivering services, research and teaching. Besides, you are expected to be aware of the responsibilities of working in the context of the governance policies of the Institution.

Requirements

You should have:
  • MBBS / MD degree or equivalent with suitable post-graduate qualifications with extensive leadership, managerial and clinical experience in a teaching hospital
  • at least 5 to 7 years of experience as Clinician with demonstrated leadership success in a medical practice setting would be preferred
  • ability to identify and manage critical issues and priorities
  • strong analytical and critical reasoning skills
  • high level of managerial competency for establishing and applying robust performance management systems and accountability frameworks
  • excellent leadership and influencing skills and demonstrable professional credibility
  • strong commercial and business insight, understanding the impact of operational efficiencies on overall patient care and performance targets
  • evidence of setting ambitious attainable targets and of leading and implementing innovative solutions, and complex change and modernization programmes designed to improve quality and services within financial constraints
  • experience of working and contributing at a senior level with a proven track record of producing high quality results in the management and leadership of operations.
