Job Details
Registrations are open for one post-doctoral position with fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). The selected candidate will work at the São Carlos Engineering School of the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
This research project aims to produce cobalt agglomerated tungsten carbide (WC-Co) coatings in AISI H13 and 4140 steels through additive manufacturing (AM) using laser powder-fed system Direct Energy Deposition (DED) method, in comparison to coatings obtained by HVOF thermal spray. The AM-DED laser powder-fed System process is a new technology, and with regard to the development of part coatings, a complete study of deposition parameters is required for the use of different raw materials.
The expected result is the obtaining of a homogeneous coating, of excellent adhesion to the substrate and high resistance to wear.
The knowledge acquired during the project is intended to be applied to develop WC-Co coatings in thermoplastic injection molds as well as steam turbine blades for power generation with sugarcane bagasse.
This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP's Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
More information about the fellowship is at: fapesp.br/oportunidades/3220.
Eligible destination country/ies for fellows: Brazil
Eligibility of fellows: country/ies of residence: All
Eligibility of fellows: nationality/ies: All
