Job Details
This post-doctoral project aims at:
(i) determining how environmental signals are recorded in modern fluvial sediments; and
(ii) assessing possible seasonal changes in environmental signals present in fluvial sediments.
The selected candidate will collect samples and analyze them primarily for the following proxies in modern fluvial sediments from tropical South America with emphasis on the Amazon River drainage basin:
(i) neodymium isotopic composition of the detrital fraction; and
(ii) stable hydrogen and carbon isotopic composition of plant-wax-derived lipids.
Pre-requisites
Experience in organic or inorganic isotope geochemistry applied to fluvial sediments; field-work experience sampling fluvial sediments (the post-doc will lead numerous field campaigns); excellent English communication skills.
Applications
This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. Interested candidates should apply via email to chiessi@usp.br with the title Candidate for postdoctoral fellowship in Isotope Geochemistry.
The following documents should compose the application:
(i) one-page cover letter in English describing the candidate's scientific interests and career objectives;
(ii) curriculum vitae with publications list; and (iii) one recommendation letter.
The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
