Job Details
One full-time position for 12 months
The Pacific Islands Families (PIF) Study seeks to appoint two Research Assistants for a research project investigating the relationship between inflammation and depression in Pacific youth.
The longitudinal PIF Study has been tracking the health and development of a birth cohort of 1,398 Pacific children and their mothers and fathers since the children were born at Middlemore Hospital, South Auckland, New Zealand in the year 2000.
One Research Assistant position will be full-time for 12 months; the second will be part-time (15 - 20 hours per week) for 6 months initially.
These roles involve being responsible for recruiting participants and visiting them at home to collect questionnaire data according to research protocols and ethical guidelines. The Research Assistants may also be responsible for delivering blood samples (in accordance with strict Health & Safety guidelines) to the AUT Roche Diagnostics Laboratory on the city campus.
As data will need to be collected before participants have had breakfast, the Research Assistants are likely to start work each day at 6.30am-7am.
We are seeking self-motivated, organised, reliable team players with strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to self-manage who preferably have experience in conducting quantitative research and working with Pacific people. They will also need to have a clean driver's licence and use of a vehicle (mileage will be paid).
These positions are due to commence in January/February 2020 and will be based at AUT's South Campus in Manukau.
When applying, please indicate whether you are applying for the full-time or part-time position.
Enquiries to: Dr Wendy Wrapson, email: wwrapson@aut.ac.nz or call 09 921 9999 ext 6136.
Auckland University of Technology is an EEO employer, we are committed to the Treaty of Waitangi and to equity. AUT aspires to be the University of choice for Maori and Pacific communities.
Please note that all applications must be submitted through the online application process. For further information, please send us an enquiry here or call 921 9499. Please note we are happy to answer your questions but we do not accept applications by email. You will need to apply through the standard registration process.
