Job Details
My client is an international chemical player that is looking to expand its current portfolio towards biodegradable Polymers. They follow the demand in the market where this is a very hot topic and the green solution to the well know plastic problem. Towards summertime, a new R&D lab will be built to support this new product line. Their headquarters in Asia already have an existing business with this portfolio, so some transfer of knowledge will happen.
In your role, you will support the sales and marketing team and be the key connection with the actual market. The role contains two main aspects.
The first part is technical. Basically gather a lot of knowledge around biopolymers, to support customers. Start with research programs around this topic. Collect and interpret new market trends and look for new product applications. This, in close contact with the Asian colleagues and R&D team.
The second part is more marketing-related but on the product level. Look at new clients by building relations having technical discussions. Order market research studies. Look at competitors. Be part of trade shows, do promotions,...
This is a new role in the company, meaning that you will have a lot of autonomy and decision making freedom and can shape your own position. You will have a big impact on the future of the business and be a key player at the start of this new production line.
To be successful:
- Science degree, ideally in polymer chemistry
- Proven work experience with food contact, plastics or packaging. This can be within R&D, Marketing or Regulatory affairs
- Excellent communication skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset
- Willingness to travel 30-50% of the time (depending on business needs)
- Ability to get to the headquarters, located in the Herentals (Belgium Area)
- Valid work permit
