The School of Education/Te Kura Mātauranga in the Faculty of Culture and Society, AUT University, is a leading provider of education programmes at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels.

As a result of our growth in the Bachelor of Education (early childhood education/primary teaching) and Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching at the South Campus and growth in numbers and papers in the BA Education and BA Children and Learning at the City Campus, we are seeking applications for seven positions. The lecturing positions will include a specific initial teacher education sector focus as well as opportunities to work in the BA and postgraduate programmes. The sector foci include:
  • Early Childhood Education (2),
  • Primary Education (2),
  • Secondary Education (1)
  • Pasifika philosophy and pedagogies (1)

These are full-time permanent positions to support the delivery of School of Education programmes from all three of AUT's campuses (North Shore and South for ECE, Primary and Secondary Teaching; City Campus for BA). Applicants should state their interest and experience in early childhood or primary, specialist curriculum areas, as well as knowledge of the disciplines of sociology, psychology and philosophy in the field of education.

For the Early Childhood Teacher Education position, we are particularly seeking individuals who can teach on curriculum related papers, children's literature, and health and safety.

For the Primary Teacher Education positions, we are seeking individuals with a range of expertise that might include, but is not limited to: digital pedagogy, flexible learning environments, teaching as inquiry, inclusive education and the teaching of writing.

Applicants should have a doctoral qualification, be research-active, and willing to make a significant contribution to the academic community of the School. Please note that teacher registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand will be essential as these positions include visiting students on practicum experiences. The successful applicants will be required to work across the School of Education's programmes at the North Shore, City and South campuses.

Roles start 3 February 2020.

Inquiries of an academic nature should be made to Lyn Lewis, Head of School. lylewis@aut.ac.nz
