Location Nairobi, Kenya
Introduction
Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi is a private not-for-profit teaching hospital that provides tertiary and secondary level healthcare services. It is one of the hospitals in East Africa accredited by the Joint Commission International from USA, the University Hospital has been providing high quality care for the people of East Africa and beyond for over 50 years.
Applications are invited from appropriately qualified candidates for the position of Medical Laboratory Technologist in Pathology Division.
The Medical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for provision of effective, efficient, quality laboratory services.
Responsibilities
• Receive specimens for analysis and conduct tests as per request;
• Maintain appropriate internal controls on all process;
• Monitor and manage routine and planned preventive maintenance of equipment;
• Perform test with maximum efficiency utilizing reagents appropriately and within expected turn-around time;
• Communicate urgent/critical tests results and maintain appropriate documentation;
• Comply with ISO 15189:2012, CAP, JCIA and Health and safety requirements in the laboratory;
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures;
• Participate in the implementation of quality control programmes;
• Carry out routine and specialized analysis of tests as per approved procedures.
Requirements
Applicants for the position must have a Higher Diploma / Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution. S/he must have three (3) years relevant working experience and must be registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technician Board.
