Introduction

It is one of the hospitals in East Africa accredited by the Joint Commission International from USA, the University Hospital has been providing high quality care for the people of East Africa and beyond for over 50 years.
Applications are invited from appropriately qualified candidates for the position of Material Handler in the Pharmacy Division.
Reporting to the Satellite Supervisor, the Material Handler will control the movement of stock items to and from the warehouse/store to various Departments/Divisions of AKUH-N.
Responsibilities
• In-charge of the assigned satellite/department-updating, preparingand printing out the re-order reports for the assigned satellite;
• Service the material requests from end users while issuing the same in a timely manner;
• Post and update transactions on the system in a timely and accurate manner;
• Stack and arrange items safely and in an identifiable manner;
• Recommend optimum quantities of items to be replenished;
• Manage a minimum value of expiries;
• Take part in quarterly stock takes and explain any variances identified by end-month reports;
• Conduct random stock takes as per the assigned categories;
• Any other duty as assigned by the Pharmacy stores Supervisor or Manager.
Requirements
Applicants should have a Diploma / CIPS certification or equivalent. The incumbent should have 3 (three) years' experience in Procurement. The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal, organisational and customer service skills. Knowledge of warehousing/stock and ability to lift heavy boxes will be an added advantage.
