Job Details
The Department of Arts, within which Media and Film is situated, is ranked in the top 20 in the UK (Art and Design). The quality and depth of the curriculum is reinforced by a dynamic research and enterprise culture, covering all aspects of the work of our staff and students.
We have long established relationships with cultural and creative organisations with whom we deliver programmes and research. These include Tyneside Cinema, with whom we are currently developing a Film MA and MFA programme. We also have a growing reputation in delivering programmes of study which integrate critical enquiry with professional practice to produce graduates who are media literate, technically skilled and eminently employable in a range of media and cultural industries. We have international ambitions to position the region as a global hub of contemporary learning and practice in the broad field of media and communication design.
We are looking to appoint Lecturers or Senior Lecturers in the discipline areas of Film or Media. You will be part of a team that will deliver research-informed learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Applications from candidates with expertise in theory of film practice or in digital media cultures are particularly welcome. You will be able to demonstrate expertise and knowledge of current issues in film practice, with expertise in practice-led research, digital media, global screen cultures or media and be able to teach flexibly and effectively using an appropriate variety of approaches to maximize student learning within a lecture and studio environment.
You should have a track-record of practice led work and/or publications appropriate to your experience and feasible plans for future high-quality research outputs for submission to REF2021. Applications from candidates with expertise in theory of film practice or with expertise in practice-led research, digital media, global screen cultures are particularly welcome.
