Applications are invited for post of either Professor, or Associate Professor, in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) at Northumbria University. You will join a growing and dynamic team of HCI researchers in the Department who are based in the Northumbria Social Computing (NorSC) research group (https://nor.sc/) led by the Head of Department, Professor Shaun Lawson. Furthermore, you will join Northumbria's NORTH Lab (https://northlab.uk/), a highly interdisciplinary Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Social Computing, User Experience (UX) and Interaction Design (IxD) community spanning multiple academic departments, faculties and research units. NORTH Lab is one of the largest groupings of HCI researchers in the UK, bringing together colleagues from Computer and Information Sciences, Design, and Psychology.

The Department of Computing and Information Sciences at Northumbria University has a new state-of-the-art £7m Computer and Information Sciences building, at the heart of our city centre campus in Newcastle upon Tyne, providing a stunning learning and teaching environment for students and staff.

As a senior Academic colleague, you will assist the Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor to maintain, enhance and improve the University's national and international reputation in your academic field. You must demonstrate continuing academic attainment and achievement and provide academic leadership (of your subject and associated colleagues), through active contribution to your discipline and to the life and work of the Faculty and the wider University. This will include contributing to significant change within practice, the discipline, profession and/or community at regional, national and international level.

To be successful in this role you will have externally recognised research outputs of a quality that are internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigour, and demonstrable success in securing research funding. You should also demonstrate academic leadership experience and strong standing with external bodies and networks in your field.
