Gehaltenavorsing onderlê die uiteenlopende aktiwiteite wat sentreer om die Departement se gevestigde kern, naamlik die studie en onderrig van Afrikaanse en Nederlandse letterkunde, taalkunde en toegepaste rigtings. Daarbenewens lewer die departement 'n besonder wye aanbod van akademiese sowel as praktykgerigte, meertalige opleiding in taalverwerwing, skeppende skryfwerk, leksikografie, vertaling, tolking, en redigering.

Lecturer (Specialisation in Afrikaans Linguistics and Translation Theory)

Quality research underlies the diverse activities centred around the Department's established core, namely the study and teaching of Afrikaans and Dutch literature, linguistics and applied fields. Additionally, the Department provides a particularly wide offering of academic as well as practice-oriented, multilingual education in language acquisition, creative writing, lexicography, translation, interpreting, and editing.

  • Voorgraadse en nagraadse onderrig in Afrikaanse taalkunde en vertaalteorie en -praktyk;
  • Nagraadse studiebegeleiding;
  • Deelname aan die Departement Afrikaans en Nederlands se onderrig, navorsing en sosiale impak;
  • Kortkursusonderrig;
  • Administratiewe take.


  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Afrikaans linguistics and translation theory and practice;
  • Postgraduate supervision;
  • Participating in teaching, research and social impact initiatives of the Department of Afrikaans and Dutch;
  • Short course teaching;
  • Administrative tasks.


  • Magistergraad (met bewese vordering met PhD-studie) in Afrikaans en Nederlands (Taalkunde) of in Taalpraktyk (Vertaalteorie);
  • Afrikaans of Afrikaans en Nederlands minstens tot op derdejaarsvlak;
  • Kennis van die jongste ontwikkeling op die gebied van die Afrikaanse Taalkunde en Vertaalteorie;
  • Ervaring van voorgraadse en nagraadse onderrig;
  • Vermoë om beide Afrikaans en Engels as onderrigtaal te gebruik.


  • Master's degree (with proven progress in PhD studies) in Afrikaans and Dutch (Linguistics) or in Language Practice (Translation Theory);
  • Afrikaans or Afrikaans and Dutch at least up to third year level;
  • Knowledge of the latest developments in the fields of Afrikaans Linguistics and Translation Theory;
  • Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching;
  • Ability to teach in both Afrikaans and English.


  • Bewese akademiese publikasierekord;
  • Bewese kennis van gemengde leer;
  • Vermoë om doeltreffend binne 'n veeltalige en multikulturele omgewing te funksioneer.


  • Proven academic publication record;
  • Proven knowledge of blended learning;
  • Ability to function efficiently in a multilingual and multicultural environment.
