Full time starting salary is normally in the range of £30,942 to £40,322. With potential progression once in post to £42,792

Background
To contribute to the creation of knowledge by undertaking a range of activities for the BURG: Benchmarks for Understanding Grasping research project.
Summary of Role
• Contribute to the specified research project;
• Develop new intellectual understanding in topic of research project;
• Disseminate research findings and results in publications and presentations;
• Contribute to generating funding by writing bids;
• Contribute to licensing or spin out deals (as applicable) with demonstrated commercial success.
Main Duties
The responsibilities may include some but not all of the responsibilities outlined below.
• Apply knowledge in a way which develops new intellectual understanding;
• Contribute to developing new models, techniques, and methods;
• Collect research data, e.g., through experimentation, literature reviews, or interviews;
• Disseminate research findings through publications or research seminars;
• Supervise students and staff on research work and provide guidance;
• Contribute to writing bids for research funding for own or joint research;
• Undertake management/administration arising from research;
• Contribute to Departmental/School research-related activities and administration;
• Contribute to enterprise, business development, and/or public engagement activities of benefit to the School, College and/or the University;
• Address issues that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines.
Person Specification
• First degree in relevant subject, e.g., computer science, engineering, or mathematics;
• Achieved (or be close to achieving) a PhD with relevant specialisation, e.g., robotics, AI, computer vision, and/or machine learning;
• Fluency in relevant models or methods, and ability to contribute to developing new ones;
• High level analytical capability, and ability to communicate complex information clearly;
• Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively;
• Understanding of and ability to contribute to project management/administration processes;
• (Desirable) Ability/experience in collaborating with academic and industrial partners;
• (Desirable) Ability/experience in supervising postgraduate/undergraduate students.
