The Laboratory of Wood Anatomy and Dendrochronology of the Department of Forest Sciences, University of São Paulo's Luiz Queiroz College of Agriculture - ESALQ/USP (Piracicaba, São Paulo State, Brazil), offers an opportunity for a 24-month post-doctoral fellowship.
This position requires previous experience in dendrochronology and wood anatomy of (sub)tropical and tree species, with an emphasis on the tree-ring anatomical characterization and micro density. Some experience in tree-ring stable isotope geochemistry is also desirable.
Selection will be based on the applicant's CV analysis, and potential contribution to the project.
This position is part of a research project jointly funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and NSF.
Specifically, the post-doc will build chronologies based on tree-ring width, anatomical characterization and micro density.
The tree growth characteristics and stable carbon and oxygen isotopes will be used to assess the climate variability.
The candidate must have obtained the PhD degree in the last three years, be fluent in English.
The PD fellowship is BRL 7,373.10 monthly or about USD 22,400 per year (net wage, tax free). A research contingency fund of 15% of annual salary will be provided for research activities.
