Duration: fixed term for 10 months

Salary: As this vacancy has limited funding the maximum salary that can be offered is Grade 6.23, salary £27,511.

Background

The associate will be primarily responsible for coordinating and conducting data collection and analyses in a study involving healthy volunteers who receive transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) while in the MRI scanner, as well as in the lab. All testing will be conducted at the Centre for Human Brain Health. Due to the participants' availability there may be some days in which the Associate will need to work outside regular office hours; in these cases, we will flexibly distribute the remainder of the working hours.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
  • Collect research data; this will involve structural and functional MRI, electrophysiological and behavioural (motion tracking) data.
  • Deliver tDCS in the MRI scanner and the laboratory.
  • Analyse research data as directed
  • Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, for example at seminars and as posters
  • Provide guidance as required to support staff and any students who may be assisting with research
  • Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
  • Carry out administrative tasks related directly to the delivery of the research (e.g., coordinating recruitment and testing)


Person Specification
  • A degree in a relevant subject area e.g., Psychology, Neuroscience
  • Practical experience of conducting research in healthy volunteers
  • Practical experience of applying tDCS and / or collecting MRI data
  • Ability to analyse information and communicate effectively
  • Ability to access and organise resources successfully
