The Division of Physiotherapy within the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences wishes to appoint a senior academic who will be expected to provide academic leadership in teaching,

research, service delivery and community engagement, within the field of neuro-musculoskeletal therapy.

Prospective candidates will participate in the full range of academic activities associated with offering quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Research and service delivery will be an expectation.

Appointment is made on the joint establishment of Stellenbosch University and the Western Cape Provincial Government.

Duties
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Neuro-Musculoskeletal Therapy;
  • Clinical supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students;
  • Active involvement in the development of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching modules in Neuro-Musculoskeletal Therapy;
  • Supervising postgraduate students in the focus areas of the Division and Faculty;
  • Participating in the teaching, research and community activities, as well as projects of the Division and Faculty;
  • Recruiting postgraduate students;
  • Publishing research findings;
  • Managing a divisional portfolio;
  • Academic administration and management;
  • Clinical consultation and service provision in the field of Neuro-Musculoskeletal Therapy within the public health sector.


Job Requirements
  • Master's degree supported by a substantive/growing publication record in Neuro-Musculo Skeletal Therapy, or Master's degree with national standing / good clinical reputation in the
  • Evidence of teaching experience and clinical supervision experience in the field of Neuro-Musculoskeletal Therapy;
  • Evidence of research experience including a growing publication record, funding applications and academic collaboration;
  • A minimum of three years' post-community service clinical experience predominantly in the field of Neuro-Musculoskeletal Therapy;
  • Evidence of experience in postgraduate supervision (Master's level);
  • Record of appropriate, regular and recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses in the field of Neuro-Musculoskeletal Therapy with evidence of a
  • Registered/ registrable with the Health Professional Council of South Africa as a Physiotherapist.


Recommendation
  • PhD with a focus in Neuro-Musculo Skeletal Therapy;
  • Evidence of experience in management/administrative activities;
  • Evidence of participation in multi/ inter/ transdisciplinary teamwork activities;
  • Membership of and participation in Professional associations.
