Job Details

Stellenbosch University's Department of Drama is a leading arts department in South Africa, renowned for high quality academic, creative and technical training on undergraduate and postgraduate level. An important aspect of the training and creative functioning of the Department is an alignment with the needs of the various communities that SU Drama serves.

Duties
  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate Acting and Performance components;
  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate Theatre Studies modules;
  • Actively participating in curriculum development;
  • Postgraduate supervision;
  • Actively participating in the research and publication activities of the Department;
  • Involvement with productions and projects of the Department;
  • Performing administrative and organisational duties as required by the Department.


Job Requirements
  • M in Drama, Performance and/or Theatre Studies;
  • At least three years' teaching experience in a higher education environment and/or professional experience as a performing practitioner;
  • Proof of a nascent and/or growing publication record.


Recommendation
  • PhD in Drama, Performance and/or Theatre Studies;
  • Experience as professional theatre practitioner;
  • Teaching experience in Directing, Performance Creation, Voice and Speech, and/or Movement in a higher education environment;
  • Experience in postgraduate supervision.


As part of the interview process, candidates will be expected to:
  • deliver an academic paper to present his/her current research;
  • present an observed, practical class for students from the Department.
