Job Details

We are seeking to fill two post-doctoral positions (two-year duration, extendable for up to two years) in a collaboration of the Marco Vinolo and Patrick Varga-Weisz laboratories, based in the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and in the University of Essex, respectively. In these, we will use cutting-edge approaches to illuminate how chromatin dynamics integrate the microbiota-host crosstalk. We will reveal how microbiota-linked histone modifications, such as crotonylation mechanistically affect gene expression and how such chromatin changes are affected in ulcerative colitis by exploring single cell transcriptomic and chromatin analysis approaches and by quantitative modeling of the data.

While most of this work will be performed in the mouse model, we will also probe questions using biopsies from patients. Scientists from different backgrounds will be considered eligible, such as: bioinformatics, biology, biomedicine, pharmacy, biochemistry, veterinary medicine, among others.

The post-doctoral fellows will be in an English-speaking, enthusiastic, collaborative and supportive laboratory environment, based at UNICAMP, one of the top 4 research universities in the Latin Americas.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. Each selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
