We are in one of the most dynamic periods in our history as technology, globalism and economic diversity create far-reaching changes in the world. As a learning business, Wiley makes meaningful contributions to research discovery and lifelong learning by helping organizations achieve their goals and people achieve success from education through their career. We may have been founded over two centuries ago, but our secret to success remains the same: change with the times and adapt to meet the ever-evolving needs of our customers. The company's headquarters are located in Hoboken, New Jersey, with operations in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Australia, and Canada.

What we are looking for:

Wiley is launching premier, broad-interest, journals serving researchers in the fields of life sciences. The company seeks a talented scientific editor to implement this initiative. As acknowledged members of the life sciences community, the Editor will work closely with the Editors-in-Chief to create a highly-anticipated journal. The Journal will be grounded in the forefront of life science research, and with the mission of providing sustained value in the evolving world of publishing.

What you'll do:

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and value of the journal by selecting and commissioning articles, analyzing the existing literature to shape the Journal's remit and scope, and working with a strong network of leading researchers who are its authors and peer referees. Especially pre-launch, tapping into an established community of scientists and growing a network is a must. In addition to making the initial editorial evaluation of submissions before peer-review, the Editor will supervise the peer review process. S/he will also lead the editorial discussion with other in-house editors and the Editors-in-Chief, and make the decision whether or not to publish a given submission in the Journal.

The Editor will be a full-time Wiley employee and member of our in-house editorial team. He or she will report to the Editors-in-Chief, and collaborate with other internal colleagues in business development, production, and marketing to contribute to the overall publishing strategy of the journal and to Wiley's life science program as a whole.

This journal will publish ground-breaking research from across all areas of life sciences. This title will serve as a voice for the community with an emphasis on transparency and innovation.

Who you are:

The qualified candidate will have a PhD in a life science discipline, postdoctoral research experience and relevant publications. Candidates from all life sciences background will be considered. He or she will have a thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in the field, with the broad scientific curiosity to investigate emerging areas of research. He or she must also be able to critically evaluate the quality and implications of high impact research manuscripts. The position requires excellent organization, decision making and transparent teamwork, spoken and written communication skills, and the ability to travel globally conducting outreach and nurturing existing contacts while developing new networks.

At Wiley, we welcome you for who you are, the background you bring, and embrace individuals who get excited about learning whether online or by book. Learning is for everyone, and so is our workplace. Bring your experiences, your perspectives, and your passion. It's in our differences that we empower the way the world learns.
