This is a full-time, fixed-term, 12-month position that involves all aspects of a Production Editor role working within the Jacaranda School Content Management team.
The Production Editor will be responsible for managing titles in various subject areas (including Maths and Science) through the editorial and production stages of the publishing process. This will include:
  • a focus on digital publications and resources (online courses, eBooks and associated multimedia)
  • handling multiple titles
  • liaising with external suppliers (editors, artists, compositors and digital vendors)
  • managing competing priorities
  • meeting production deadlines.

This position is based in our Melbourne (Richmond) office (currently working remotely until we can safely return), and will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to be an integral part of a valued and professional global team.

About you
  • You will be degree qualified, ideally in a field such as Publishing or Editing, and come with proven administration skills.
  • You must have strong organisational skills, including meticulous record-keeping experience.
  • You must be able to manage projects effectively and within budget and on schedule, including working under pressure.
  • You will have a passion for learning and innovation, with an aptitude for working with new technology and systems.
  • Your communication skills - verbal, written and listening - will be exceptional to achieve consensus across a diverse range of stakeholders (including in-house colleagues and external suppliers).
  • You will possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and have a positive, dedicated, flexible approach to work.
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar in-house role, and a proven track record in coordinating and overseeing print and digital projects through all stages of production. Your editing skills will be strong, paired with exceptional project management, communication, collaboration and time management skills.
