Computer Science Teacher - Part Time

David Game College is looking for an enthusiastic and capable part time Computer Science teacher to join our team from September 2020.

Scope and responsibilities of the role

Teaching IGCSE computer Science and some A level in line with College policies and guidelines; knowledge of recent developments at GCSE and A level is highly desirable.

Applicant will need to be an enthusiastic and committed teacher who is aware of and sympathetic to the needs of 14 -19 year olds.

You should possess a good first degree in Computer Science or Post Graduate Qualification in Computer Science and some experience of tutoring/teaching.

This is a part-time, which includes teaching and administrative duties typical of any independent tutorial college. The teaching hours are flexible so that it is possible to fit in with other commitments. There is the possibility of the post becoming full time in the future.

Purpose of the post

To work with the Head of Computing in order that the highest academic and professional standards are maintained at all times.

Teaching responsibilities

These are spread over the following groupings:
  • A level Computer Science
  • IGCSE Computer Science


Remuneration: £45 per hour

Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post, each individual task undertaken may not be identified and the post holder may reasonably be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility that may be allocated from time to time.

Person specification
  1. Qualifications: A good honours degree : Teaching /Tutoring experience
  2. To be proficient in programming including with Python 3.x.
  3. Expertise and academic competence: the ability to seek review and apply best practice.
  4. Many of the students who choose an A level or GCSE programme do not have English as a first language.
  5. Previous experience teaching international students would therefore be an advantage.
  6. Personal effectiveness: good time management, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; good communication, presentation and planning skills.
  7. Demonstrate a commitment to high quality teaching and learning by supporting initiatives within the college.
  8. Must have right to work in the UK.
