The Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at Aga Khan University is a dynamic academic unit with state-of-the-art pediatric clinical services, cutting-edge child health research, and advanced pediatric training programs relevant to the needs of Pakistan. The Department has distinguished itself nationally and globally through its unrelenting focus on child health research serving impoverished communities of Pakistan. The Department offers multi-specialty pediatric clinical care at AKU's flagship campus in Pakistan on Stadium Road, Karachi, as well as secondary care hospitals in Karachi and Hyderabad.

The Department provides comprehensive teaching programmes for undergraduate students, a four- year residency programme and specialized fellowship training in neonatology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric endocrinology, pediatric infectious diseases, pediatric neurology and pediatric critical care.

Responsibilities

The Chair will provide dynamic leadership to the department and will have overall responsibility for the conduct of its research, academic and service mandate, consistent with the mission and policies of AKU and AKUH. You will be expected to foster a research culture in the department, teach, supervise and be an active participant in the graduate student mentoring / advising process, as well as focus on attraction, retention and succession planning of faculty and on securing extramural funding.

Requirements

You should have:
  • RCPCH, EBP, American Boards or equivalent qualification in Paediatrics
  • a sustained record of excellence with notable achievements in research, teaching and clinical
  • service
  • a strong track record of research publications in peer-reviewed indexed journals and of grant-funded research
  • national and international recognition as an academic authority in the field of Paediatrics.
  • leadership experience in an academic medical centre with strong administrative and mentoring skills.
