Research Coordinator

The multidisciplinary Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences based in the Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, strives to deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate education cutting across and integrating the disciplines of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology and Pharmacology. The department is also committed to conducting impactful biomedical research on both communicable and non-communicable disorders, designed to improve the health and wellbeing of communities at large.

The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Research Coordinator in the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

• planning, organizing and conducting laboratory teaching sessions for undergraduate medical students and graduate students
• training and supporting elective students in research projects
• assisting faculty in carrying out research projects
• assisting faculty in preparing manuscripts, research presentations and grant proposals
• placing orders for chemicals and consumables needed for teaching and research
• operating common laboratory equipment such as inverted microscopes, spectrophotometers, analytical balances, pH meters and plate readers
• contributing to day-to-day operations of the lab and overseeing assigned standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• organizing workshops and teaching sessions for capacity building of junior lab staff
• keeping abreast of latest technology and development pertaining to lab teaching and research.

Requirements

You should have:

• a graduate degree (MSc/MS/MPhil) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Molecular Medicine or equivalent from an HEC recognized or reputable foreign university/institution
• at least 2 years of work experience related to research and teaching
• experience in common biochemical, molecular biology, histology and tissue culture experimental techniques
• excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• the ability to multi-task several projects and work in fast paced environment
• proven ability to work well with certain degree of autonomy and function successfully in a team environment
• proficiency in MS Office.
