The Aga Khan University (AKU) has partnered with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) - an internationally renowned Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research in developing and building the stem cell research, training and education program.
The Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research (CRM), is a Centre with state-of-the-art facility undertaking cutting edge research on stem cell and regenerative medicine on non-communicable diseases prevalent in the developing world; nurturing the next generation of researchers and clinicians; and creating a multidisciplinary collaborative environment that encourages innovation. AKU-CRM is inviting applications from outstanding and ambitious candidates with experience in one or more of these areas including stem cell science, molecular biology and hematology to join research projects investigating the basis of hematological malignancies/disorders using drug development and a wide range of cellular, molecular, biochemical, genomic, and gene editing approaches to develop therapy and investigate ways to overcome drug resistance in hematological malignancies.
Applicants who are currently involved in the broad area of stem cell and molecular biology, listed below, will also be considered:

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Faculty AKU-CRM, you will perform a varied set of responsibilities which include:
- conducting wet lab research at AKU-CRM labs
- conducting daily, weekly and monthly inventory of consumables/reagents required for the team
- attending weekly meetings, journal clubs and research in progress and presenting in these meetings as directed by the assigned faculty
- any other assignment as directed by the faculty.
Requirements
You should have:
- a Masters' degree in the field of Biological Science or related field of research
- candidates with a MBBS, BDS or DVM with lab-based research experience can also be considered
- minimum three years' experience in research laboratory, post qualification
- candidates with experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply:
• Cell Biology Research (e.g. Tissue culture, Genetic engineering, Flow cytometry)
• Molecular Biology Research (e.g. Cloning, Sequencing, PCR, real-time PCR, CRISPR-Cas9)
• Biochemical Techniques such as Western blotting, ELISA, IP/Co-IP and Protein purification
• Stem Cell Biology Research
• Imaging Techniques such as Fluorescent microscopy, Confocal microscopy - strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple tasks assigned by the faculty 6. competent in computer usage with command over Microsoft office, statistical and imaging software 7. sound communication skills. Fluent in English speaking and writing 8. strong interpersonal skills.
