Research Coordinator, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is part of the University's Women and Child Health Division, which deals with the continuum of maternal, fetal and child health issues.The department offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services for women including high risk obstetrical care, infertility, foetal assessment, routine obstetric, reproductive endocrinology, gynaecological oncology and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of routine gynaecological disorders. It also offers a four-year residency training programme.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to coordinate for all the project-related activities from field management to data collection, quality control of data collection and maintain good working relationship among staff and community. Specific responsibilities include to:

• coordinate with staff working at field sites in Hyderabad for the completion of tasks within the defined timelines
• supervise and monitor the field activities at all field sites, including community engagement activities
• identify experienced data collectors to lead the process of required data collection at each health facility or field site
• coordinate with the government and community stakeholders for carrying out the project activities in the study areas
• arrange meetings with the research team and keep record of the appropriate documentation
• provide training to the project staff at multiple field sites.

Requirements

You should have:

• a Master's degree, preferably in Social Sciences or any other relevant discipline
• at least two years of relevant experience
• skills in field coordination and data collection, analysis and interpretation
• good knowledge of qualitative research, surveys and other research designs
• excellent interpersonal skills, particularly communication skills while having some command over local languages will be preferred
• proficient in the use of computer applications, particularly in MS Office package
• ability to work effectively in teams as well as independently and resilience to cope-up with the work pressure
• willingness to frequently travel outside Karachi and work in field sites.

This is a close-ended position to be based in Karachi.
