Research Fellow in Local Low Carbon Industrial Strategy

Place has been identified as a key foundation of the UK Government's Industrial Strategy, with the aim of reducing local and regional economic and social disparities. In response, mayoral combined authorities (MCAs) and local enterprise partnerships (LEPs) are developing local industrial strategies (LISs).

The UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) is undertaking research to explore how these LISs can contribute to delivering on the UK's low carbon agenda. The research will draw-on and extend previous analysis in England and compare this with the results of similar research that is being undertaken in Germany, Japan and China. It will involve close collaboration with the MCAs, LEPs and companies and will involve undertaking interviews, organising deliberative workshops and using pathways and scenarios informed by a range of tools and modelling techniques.

You will be based in the Sustainability Research Institute of the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Leeds, which is one of the UK's leading interdisciplinary institutes conducting research on the different dimensions of sustainability. The work is being led by Professor Peter Taylor and you will also co-operate with other members of the UKERC team working on local and regional energy systems.
