Engineering the Future

You will join our team and support pivotal research that will involve developing, testing, operating and maintaining underwater robotic imaging systems as part of a team of robotics engineers. Based predominantly in Southampton your duties will include assembling, upgrading, calibrating and verifying system level functionality of sub-sea robotic platforms and seafloor imaging systems. · In addition, you will be involved with the preparation, planning and participation of multiple field trials for robotic monitoring of subsea environments, including organization and performing quality control of gathered data. Supporting researchers implement and test new algorithms and methods on 3d camera systems and sub-sea robotic platforms some of which will require you work at sea.

The role will require safe moving and handling of heavy equipment.

You will be required to carry out laser safety training and sea survival training (STCW Personal Survival Techniques) as you will participate in oceanic research expeditions.

You will be required to help organize and participate in field trials, which may involve periods of time being spent out at sea.
