Job Details
The University of Bristol's Department of Philosophy wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Philosophy on pathway 3 (primary responsibility for teaching, rather than research).
The role is open ended with fixed funding for one year in the first instance, with the possibility of continuing.
The appointee should be able to teach broadly across the philosophy curriculum including Practical Philosophy (broadly understood, including Political Philosophy, Applied Ethics, Philosophy of Medicine). An ability to contribute to teaching on introductory level units in Metaphysics and Epistemology would also be desireable.
The appointee will be expected to deliver lectures and seminars at undergraduate and MA level, to mark essays and exams, to supervise and mark undergraduate dissertations and MA independent-study essays, to undertake any necessary teaching-related administration, to provide pastoral support to students, and to participate fully in the daily life of the department.
The appointment start date is 1st October 2020 or soon thereafter.
