The Aga Khan University (AKU) has partnered with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) - an internationally renowned Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research in developing and building the stem cell research, training and education program. The Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research (CRM), is a Centre with state-of-the-art facility undertaking cutting edge research on stem cell and regenerative medicine on non-communicable diseases prevalent in the developing world; nurturing the next generation of researchers and clinicians; and creating a multidisciplinary collaborative environment that encourages innovation.
AKU-CRM is inviting applications from outstanding and ambitious candidates with experience in one or more of these areas including biomedical engineering, bionics, and regenerative medicine for replacing, repairing, or enhancing biological systems.

Requirements
You should have:
AKU-CRM is inviting applications from outstanding and ambitious candidates with experience in one or more of these areas including biomedical engineering, bionics, and regenerative medicine for replacing, repairing, or enhancing biological systems.
Applicants who are currently involved in the broad areas, listed below, will also be considered:
- Tissue engineering
- Scaffold and 3D bio printing
- Endogenous regenerative potential of tissues and organs
- Bio instrumentation
- Microfluidics/Organ-on-a-chip
- Material testing and validation
- Biological Product Development
- Reprogramming and differentiation
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Faculty AKU-CRM, you will perform a varied set of responsibilities which include:
- conducting wet lab research at AKU-CRM labs
- conducting regular inventory of consumables/reagents required for the team
- attending weekly meetings, journal clubs and research in progress and presenting in these meetings as directed by the assigned faculty
- any other assignment as directed by the faculty.
Requirements
You should have:
- a Masters' degree in the field of Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering/ Material Sciences/ Engineering or related field of research
- at least three years' experience in a research laboratory, post qualification
- candidates with experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply: 1. Bio-printing (e.g. Development of scaffolds, 3D organ modeling) Tissue Engineering (Biomaterial fabrication and characterization, development of scaffolds and related materials, Bioprinting) 2. Organ-on-a-chip/Microfluidics 3. Design, development, and validation of systems for biological studies 4. Functional imaging 5. Computational modeling, 3D modeling, simulations
- strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple tasks assigned by the faculty
- competent in computer usage with command over Microsoft office, statistical and imaging software;
- sound communication skills: fluent in English speaking and writing
- strong interpersonal skills.
