Job Summary

The Lead Instructor teaches aspiring developers precisely what they need to succeed on a development team. The Instructor will not just teach people code; they will teach them to act, think, and work like professional developers. This person will manage a highly immersive, three-month boot camp for the most committed, passionate and vetted students. Additionally, the Lead Instructor will be responsible for managing a team of other educational staff and projects.

About the Role

· Manage and instruct a Software Guild course in both the in-person and online modalities.
· The position will need to travel up to 50%.
· Carrying out and attaining the mission and goals of the department.
· Develop an employee-oriented company culture with emphasis on quality, continuous improvement, and retention.
· Work with management and HR staff to recruit and interview potential employees.
· Coach, mentor and develop staff including overseeing onboarding, assisting with professional development, work scheduling, and communicating department goals.
· Empower team members to take responsibility for performance and goals. Build a culture of accountability and regular feedback.
· Ensure that team members are following classroom procedures.
· Collect feedback from students and staff members and assist senior management with adjusting and creating policies that improve experience and outcome.
· Monitor industry trends and employer feedback to ensure the curriculum is up to date and identify new opportunities.
· Adjudicate and document conflicts in oversight area, bringing them to senior management if necessary.
· Periodically observe and review performance of team members, ensuring compliance with Guild policies and procedures.
· Liaise with operations team members to ensure that events and extracurricular activities that involve instructor staff executed at a high-quality level.

About You

· Desired: Bachelor's/Master's Degree
· Minimum: High School Diploma/GED
· 3 years of experience in software development in one of the two stacks we teach: Microsoft .NET (C#/ASP .NET/SQL Server) or Java (Java/Spring/MySQL).
· Experience in Python
· Ability to emphasize and show the meta-skills and core concepts of professional software development
· Proven experience and subject matter expertise in field of software development
· High level of empathy, patience, and an ability to encourage students who are struggling, offer additional challenges to students who are excelling, and always offer and encourage open and honest communication
· Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team both virtual and in-person.
