Do you have the experience and ability to design and deliver high quality teaching in Engineering Geology on both undergraduate postgraduate taught courses, and to contribute to developments relating to teaching and learning?

The School of Earth and Environment is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Engineering Geology (Teaching and Scholarship). This opportunity has arisen due to the fixed-term secondment of existing staff to Faculty and School management positions.

You would be joining a dynamic environment within the Engineering Geology, Rock Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering and Hydrogeology grouping at the University of Leeds. You will be expected to make a significant contribution to teaching at taught postgraduate and undergraduate level with an emphasis on geohazards and assessing and managing ground risk for infrastructure. You will lead modules, lectures and workshops across for both Undergraduate and Master programmes, with a particular focus on our MSc in Engineering Geology programme, as well as on undergraduate programmes in geosciences and engineering. You will also be expected to engage in appropriate administrative duties.

You will have a PhD in Geosciences or Geotechnical Engineering or a related cognate discipline, with an appropriate background in either academia or industrial practice in a relevant subject area. Additionally, you will have evidence of leadership skills (e.g.

module or project leadership) and the potential to teach effectively at all levels within higher education. Experience of ground characterisation for assessment of geohazards and ground risks to infrastructure would be advantageous. The ability to demonstrate effective partnership building, in order to deliver an applied curriculum with excellent employability outcomes is desirable.

As a Lecturer, you will design and deliver teaching and assessment, student project supervision, pedagogic scholarship and administrative duties within the School, Faculty and University and contribute to academic leadership in the field of Engineering Geology with specific emphasis on geohazards and ground risk for infrastructure.
