This is an exceptional time to be joining the University of Southampton and its IT Portfolio & Governance team within the University's IT department, iSolutions. The portfolio team support management and delivery of strategic and life-cycle projects and programmes, innovating and improving our IT services.
About the Role
This is a key role in support of our projects and programmes, focusing on the planning and management of resources allocated to change initiatives, as well as the release of services into the production environment. Following a recent restructure, you will be joining a re-shaped portfolio team, which includes business and systems analysts alongside project, programme and portfolio managers. This role is being offered on a full time, fixed term basis for 12 months. This is a great opportunity to introduce a new resource management approach to the department, and we hope to grow the resource and release management role in future.

What you'll do
- Take the lead on capacity planning and resource management for the IT portfolio
- Proactively work with colleagues across the department to plan for effort and skill availability for projects and programmes
- Align staff against organisational strategies and priorities, and manage any conflicts
- Manage the forward calendar of change, and improve the release management process
What you'll bring
- Experience of resource management in a PPM environment and release management in an IT environment
- Proven people management skills and the integrity to work with both commercial and personal information
- Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences
- Ability to co-ordinate release of services across multiple workstreams
