Job Details
The Research Fellow in Machine Learning for Project Management is a hybrid Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer role, with the ability to get close to data; undertaking pre-processing of structured and unstructured data and building predictive models and machine learning solutions that are scalable, integrated with a data analytics system and can be productionised. We are particularly interested in the application of Neural Networks to project management data, consequently, knowledge of Tensorflow would be beneficial. Exposure to other machine learning algorithms; such as K-Nearest Neighbours, Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machines, Decision Trees and Random Forests, is required.
This is a full time fixed term role for 9 months and the successful applicant must have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science / Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or similar field.
You will also need real world experience in building, training and deploying machine learning models and will be expected to collaborate with other staff involved in the data modelling, design and analytics aspects of the project. This role is a very exciting opportunity to work with a team of academics and industry experts from the University of Southampton and Greyfly to develop and test machine learning models to improve project management success and sustainability. Greyfly is a Project Management (PM) Consulting firm specialising in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to project management. The company is developing a Project Prediction tool focused on analysing client project data and to provide insights on the future success of projects. It is envisioned that the tool will evolve into a real time Project Prediction and Assurance tool that clients can use for continuous monitoring, and thereby change the whole way in which projects are managed.
The Research Fellow in Machine Learning for Project Management will be involved in the development of a working machine learning model for the proof of concept for our Project Prediction tool over an initial 9 month period, which will integrate with the data analytics prototype and dashboards that we are also developing in Microsoft Power BI.
A standard DBS check may be required for this role.
Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
