Open to internal candidates from the School of Medicine only

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to support researcher development and career progression through an exciting new initiative between the University of Leeds and the British Heart Foundation (BHF). The Cardiovascular Science Fellowship Scheme is funded from an existing School of Medicine endowment dating back to 1984 (legacy from the Mautner estate and match-funded by the BHF in 1988).

These fellowships can provide successful candidates with a prestigious foundation as a science leader of the future. Our facilities provide state of-the-art technologies as part of an intellectually challenging, innovative and supportive environment.

Up to 5 fellowships are available.

Successful candidates will undertake a three-year basic science fellowship in the field of cardiovascular and diabetes research, which will allow you to develop your own academic research profile, including submission of grant and fellowship applications and publication in high impact peer-reviewed journals. It is expected that research activities undertaken will enable you to ultimately secure a long-term externally-funded personal fellowship. Successful applicants will contribute to the overall School of Medicine strategy to translate research into patient benefit as part of our drive to adopt more personalised treatment approaches for patients with the cardiovascular complications of type 2 diabetes.

We are looking for talented, highly motivated postdoctoral researchers currently employed in the School of Medicine with demonstrable potential to be outstanding scientists of the future and locate their fellowship to LICAMM. Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant discipline (or equivalent qualification/experience) and have expertise in cardiovascular research. We welcome and encourage applications from all sections of the community, and we would particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups.
