The Department of Film and Television seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Filmmaking at 1.0 FTE for a one-year fixed-term contract, commencing on 16 November 2020. The post represents an exciting opportunity for a filmmaker and/or academic with experience and expertise teaching film practice. The appointee will teach across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, particularly on units which involve creative practice in documentary and fiction forms. Specialist knowledge in cinematography (including lighting design), sound, editing, post-production, production design, and directing. Expertise in editing and post-production is particularly welcome. For this role, essential expertise and experience in: delivering online and in-person lectures, production tutorials, workshops; supervising filmmaking practice; and marking assignments to established criteria. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the wider activities of the department, including dissertation supervision and pastoral support for MA and UG students.

Film and Television is a growing department, located in custom-built premises housing a 200-seat cinema, a 39-seat screening room, dual-projection lecture room, seminar rooms, two production studios, animation suites, edit suites and sound rooms. Staff in the Department have expertise in an array of genres, regions, periods and modes, including television drama, animated film, comedy and the Western, and in a range of approaches including documentary filmmaking, fiction filmmaking, film editing, cinematography, audience studies, archival research, close reading, and media archaeology.
