The Division of Health Systems and Public Health is located within the Department of Global Health in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Division undertakes a range of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research activities related to the field of health systems and public health.

  • Contributing to enhancing the research activities and outputs of the Division of Health Systems and Public Health;
  • Initiating, executing and supervising research in health systems and public health, with a specific focus on public health;
  • Sustaining and growing postgraduate research training and outputs in the relevant fields;
  • Increasing the quality and output of research in the relevant field;
  • Contributing to sustaining and growing health systems and public health teaching and learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
  • Securing funding to support relevant research;
  • Engaging with district, provincial, national and international stakeholders;
  • Promoting dissemination of research findings beyond publication.

Job requirements:
  • Masters degree in Public Health with relevant experience;
  • Evidence of research experience including a good publication record in peer-reviewed journals; securing research grants and academic collaboration;
  • Evidence of experience in mentorship and postgraduate supervision (Master's level);
  • Evidence of experience working within a research environment;
  • Evidence of teaching experience at undergraduate or postgraduate levels;
  • Project management skills, communication as well as networking skills.

  • PhD in Public Health or relevant related area, or proof of near completion of PhD;
  • Excellent track record of initiating and executing research in the relevant field;
  • Excellent track record of publications in high impact journals and report-writing;
  • Evidence of experience in supervising researchers;
  • National, regional and international recognition for research.
