Senior Research Assistant/Field Supervisor

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has nine community-based field sites across Pakistan (including five in Karachi) and focuses on research for the betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that caters to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level. The department is carrying out a community-based research project in district Dadu, which is funded by Swiss Red Cross and aims to improve Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) status in district Dadu.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

• screen patient in COVID-19 triage, counsel them to take precautionary measures and referral for further screening and diagnosis
• provision of support, counselling and information to pregnant women, lactating mothers in the community
• take consent from respondent to conduct interview in selected household and record data on tablet
• make visits to field sites and manage field work to ensure effective use of time
• they will also provide a link between community, LHVs and Facility
• development of linkage and referral pathway for the complicated cases from the community to health facility
• assist male community mobilizers in formulation of Health Committees for generation of emergency funds to facilitate community women for seeking emergency care in the community.

Requirements

You should have:

• a Diploma in Lady Health Visitor or Midwifery while you should also possess Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or equivalent for Senior Research Assistant position
• preferably one year of relevant experience
• basic research skills and good interpersonal skills, particularly communication skills
• good command over the use of computer applications, particularly MS Office
• resilience and ability to cope-up with work pressure and meet stringent timelines
• willingness to work in community setting

This is a close-ended position to be based in District Dadu.
