What we are looking for:
The Program Strategy Manager (PSM) is the general manager of services related to the development and delivery of the learning experience in our partnered programs. This person will lead Program Planning and Instructional Design strategy working with program leaders and faculty partners. They will own the consultation, development, and implementation of multiple partner's academic strategy (to include distribution student feedback data, establishing course design standards, faculty development, technology, and examining future state of higher education learning, and placement in marketplace.) The PSM will work cross-functionally with Marketing Brand Managers, Partnership Directors, Systems, and Help Desk, as well as other Academic Services verticals

What you'll do:
  • Consult with faculty and leaders on best practices in online learning, and collaborates to proactively manage the planning, course development, and continuous improvement phases of an engagement. Work with school leaders and Partnership Director to develop and carry out strategies that improve student learning and retention, measure results (assessment), and maximize our value to the school. Drawing on experience and research, promote Wiley's student-centered and outcomes-driven approach to online learning.
  • Maintain and promote sound ID process in each existing program, and collaborate with other Academic Services verticals to drive the implementation of ID processes in new programs. Ensure that online learning best practices are applied, as well as the instructional design competencies detailed in the ibstpi® Instructional Design Competencies resulting in improvement of faculty's courses for effectiveness and student engagement. Evaluate courses developed by IDs and other team members performing work for the partner school.
  • Maintain, implement, and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes. Negotiate project plans and processes both internally and externally, and diplomatically drive accountability where it belongs. Coordinate and assure quality and timeliness in all academic services we deliver to the school. Proactively and clearly communicate needs, status, and deadlines to all players and efficiently address or escalate issues. In matrixed environment, assist other Managers in evaluating the work quality of internal team members (instructional designer(s) and instructional support specialist(s)).
  • Lead, initiatives with program leaders and faculty groups as well as individual faculty members that promote strong service and collaboration. Show expertise with the partner and respect for faculty as well as commitment to student success and institutional mission. Show eagerness to genuinely collaborate in the service of improving student learning experiences. Find potential difficult situations and political challenges, escalate appropriately, and work with others as needed to contribute to problem-solving efforts. Show rapport and credibility with faculty members, collaborate well, communicate clearly and respectfully, show an eagerness to help and willingness to listen, and carefully track and follow through with all communication.
  • Assess faculty development and support needs and develop a strategic approach for each program as it evolves. Work with partnership team and central resources as appropriate. Assist in the design and delivery of engaging and effective training curricula in technology, instructional design, and best practices. Work with program leaders to set up a community of practice that values online learning and strives for continual skill building and innovation.
  • Routinely contribute and share resources and offer supportive feedback to team members. Take responsibility for personal professional development. Mentor instructional designers and instructional support specialists that work on assigned partners.

What you'll need:
  • Bachelors degree
  • 7+ years experience managing long term clients and large projects with matrixed teams; Preferably working with faculty in higher education or similar, experience as instructional designer of online courses for the higher-education market or similar, or implementing learning technology in higher education
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong project management skills, negotiation skills
  • Project Management software, data analysis to drive business choices, client management experience
  • Ability to contribute to vision setting, guide internal teams to perform, and listen and adapt to team and client needs
  • Travel approximately 2 times per month to client sites.
