Job Details

We are looking for a skilled, enthusiastic research fellow to work in our project team to help deliver an NIHR PHR funded project. PALS (The Project About Loneliness and Social networks) is being run by the University of Southampton and local community partners. The project hopes to reduce loneliness and social isolation by increasing social connections and links to the local community. Ideally you will have experience of working in partnership or within the community and voluntary sector.

You will join a multi-disciplinary team with strengths in applied social science looking at how we can make a difference through researching, implementing and evaluating an intervention focused on people's social identity and the resources they have around them for emotional and psychological support. Southampton is one of the best places in the UK for applied health services research and education.

The successful candidate should have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in an applied social science e.g. health psychology, sociology and experience of working in social, community public health contexts.

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

The post is offered on a full-time basis until 31/08/2021.

For additional information and informal enquiries before submitting your application, contact Dr Rebecca Band ( R.J.Band@soton.ac.uk ).

We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
